To learn more about Rossini, please read this article here about our trip to their impressive factory back in July. Rossini revealed a few new handsome dress watches at the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair last month, including an upgraded version of this watch that I reviewed a few months back, so hopefully I’ll be able to get my hands on them soon. This month they let me spend some time playing with a watch from their sportier Range 1 collection. This member of the Rossini family is the Range 1 YD5673W01A.
This stainless steel 1 hour chronograph watch is 42mm wide and 12.1mm thick, and features a date indicator at 12 o’clock, as well as a the ever-so-popular-in-China 24 hour indicator on the right sub-dial. There’s a small seconds hand at 6 o’clock, and another sub-dial at 9 o’clock indicates the 60 minute chronograph. The watch is water proof to 100 meters.
The dial is actually a pretty sharp design, and blends several textures and finishes together into a very legible and seamless presentation. The varying textures create a bit of depth and make for an interesting visual. The minimal use of color and the all stainless steel construction definitely keeps this watch on the dressier side of sporty. There’s a touch of lume on the hands and indices, but……..I probably wouldn’t wear this one caving.
Using Seiko quartz movements, the Range 1 line falls at a less expensive price point, as would be expected. I found prices online around 980RMB, or $150USD. The movement is what it is, but where the finishing and other peripherals are concerned, I’ve definitely seen worse for this price range for a dressy stainless steel chronograph.
